Southcliff Access Statement

Our aim is to ensure a safe, comfortable, enjoyable experience for guests staying at the Southcliff. We will endeavour to deal with any enquiries and requests, quickly and efficiently, and are committed to providing a professional friendly service.


Public bus and rail services are about 500Mts from the hotel. Taxi transport can be arranged with prior notice.

A public car park is approx 30Mts from the Hotel. £2.50 per day and £1 overnight. Reserved disabled spaces available.

Guest assistance is available also Porterage service for luggage.

The Hotel is a late Victorian end of terrace 4 storey property built in 1879 and does not have a lift. Comprising of 9 en-suite bedrooms, 7 with showers and 2 with bath & shower.

Approach to building

The front entrance has 3 steps, each 16cm high leading from the pavement up to the front door.

The front door is143cm wide and leads into a Porch with double opening doors leading into main hall and reception area.  The hall is 245cm wide

Ground floor

The reception area and Dining room are on the ground floor.

The height of the reception bar is 1 Mt high and is well lit.

There are 2 separate doors to the spacious dining room each 86 cm wide.

Seating is available in the reception area.

First floor

Residence Lounge and two bedrooms

The Lounge and both bedrooms on the first floor lead off from the landing which is approached by a flight of 17 steps and through a normally closed fire door. The stairs and landing are 1M wide.

There is 1 step up to the Public toilet on this landing.

Bedroom 2  A twin bedded room.

Bedroom  3  Family room (double & single bed).

Leading off the landing through a closed fire door is a flight of 16 stairs to the second floor landing. There are four bedrooms and a public toilet from this landing.

A flight of 16 stairs lead to the third floor and fire door and three remaining bedrooms.

All stairs and landings are well lit 24hrs a day.


All bedroom doors are 840mm wide with handles under 1m.

All bathrooms are approximately 1200mm x 2900mm with en-suite doors at least 680mm wide.

Showers have a step up of approximately 13 cm except when over bath.

Good colour contrast between floor covering and walls.

All TV sets are remote controlled.

All kettles are cordless.

All cold water taps are on the right and basin taps are suitable for drinking water.

Management Services

Waitress service available from 8am – 10pm.

Task lighting available at all times.

Cooling fans available on request.

Assistance for “settling in” available on request

Fire Escape

Emergency escape doors from 2nd and 3rd floor, are clearly labelled “Fire Exit” or “Emergency Exit”.

Emergency escape from first and ground floors are via main front door.

Assembly point is outside the main building in Victoria Street.
